About Lara

I was brought up in the New Forest in the county of Hampshire in southern England. From as long as I can remember I’ve been with horses and dogs, accompanying my mother who took her camera everywhere. I guess it was no surprise that I would follow in her footsteps! After years being surrounded and following my passion photographing many of the horses in the New Forest I met my now and lovely husband Andy and now live in the Surrey Hills with him, our two children four rescue dogs two cats, three rabbits and a menagerie of other animals. Not being able to keep away from my love of dogs and photography I now run my business from our home in Surrey where I am able to capture some amazing lifestyle of our loved companions.

I can’t speak highly enough of Lara and the photographs she took of our two dogs. She was absolutely brilliant with them, and the whole process was really enjoyable and relaxed. Our dogs are quite a handful so it could easily have descended into mayhem in less calm and professional hands! The image are beautiful.

Lara was such a pro with my dog, Heidi. She created a super chill and relaxed environment for the dog to be in, she was incredibly calm considering she can sometimes be shy and nervous in new situations. I will definitely be letting other people know that Lara is the photographer to go to for their doggy photo’s.

I’m also an animal handler—I consider this my “day job.” I’ve worked on some major films and television series, as well as commercial shoots (editorial and video) where I train and handle dogs and many other kinds of animals in all sorts of situations! I bring this experience to my photography (and my online course)—more than technical expertise, I believe that putting an animal at ease—making them happy, in effect— is the key to getting a great photograph.
